Today was Thanksgiving at my Mom’s restuarant. We had a great time. There was around 25 people or so and Mom and Dab-a-doo (what my kids have called my step-Dad since they could talk) cooked everything except just a few things. We went early so we could help and we were put to work the moment we got there.
The menu was: 2 Turkeys, 2 Hams, dressing, baked sweet potatoes, sweet potato casserole, my potato casserole, green beans, corn, mashed potatoes, broccoli casserole, brussel sprouts(yuck), yeast rolls, gravy, pasta salad, cranberry salad, cranberry sauce, banana pudding, sour cream pound cake, 2 pumpkin pies, ooey gooey bars, and apple crisp.
Whew! That’s a lot of food! But Mom and Dabadoo had lots of to-go boxes for everyone and insisted everyone take food home. In the end everything was either eaten or taken except one pan of dressing(Mom made 2 pans), 1/2 a pan of broccoli casserole, some rolls, and 1/2 a ham. Mom could have made half of what she did and still had enough for leftovers. Ah well…it was a blast!
