I know why it is that I will buy a book and then hold onto it for a couple of weeks before I read it. It’s simple really! And something I should have picked up on a long time ago.
I am a fast reader for the most part. I go through books like [insert some witty comparison here]! When I sit down to read a book, I can not be disturbed for any reason or extreme pissiness ensues! Just ask Justin what happens when I am thoroughly engrossed in a book and he (or anyone else for that matter) asks me a question. Let’s just say that I can have a tendency to growl the answer. Of course, everyone in this house will call me on it right away and then walk out of the room and leave me alone….which is what I wanted in the first place! LOL
I have a stack of books at my disposal that have yet to be consumed, “Wicked” being the one sitting on top right now. The others include but are not limited to: “The Voyage of the Jerle Shannara” Trilogy by Terry Brooks, “The Lost Book of Enki” by Zecharia Sitchin (which is a sorta strange book), and some fluff that I read when nothing else is available.
Now, I want to say something about “The Lost Book of Enki”. This is a book about how in ancient times, astronauts came to earth and genetically engineered homo sapiens as we are now, how we worshiped them as Gods, and then they left. I don’t know why, something about a war somewhere. Before anyone says “Becky’s done lost her mind” let me say that I never said I agreed with all of his conclusions. In fact, I can’t say I agree or disagree because I haven’t read the book. I will say, going on what I do know about the book and it’s author, that I have no idea if his conclusions are correct or delusional. And the whole series reminds me of something my Dad said once.
My Dad is one of the most level headed and sensible people I know. He is not prone to irrational thought. One day a few years ago Dad came to visit and we were sitting in the living room chatting about random things when the subject turned to UFO’s. Dad asked me if I believed in UFO’s. I said that I believed there were many many other civilizations out there in the universe but I wasn’t sure if I believed they came to visit us and abduct humans for whatever it is they do to them. Dad said there were hundreds of thousands of sightings, witnesses to landing craft and testimony of hundreds and hundreds of abductee’s all around the world. If only ONE of them is right, then there is something to it. He had a point!
