We have let a few things go inside the house since we got back from vacation. Isn’t that how it always goes? But, today is “clean the house” day. And I mean really clean the house not the half-assed shit we have been doing here lately. It’s not THAT bad…just a little too cluttered with stuff that everyone, including myself, leave just laying around. We wash the dishes and take the trash out every single day so what we are tackling today is just….stuff…and a little extra dust.
Well, let me rephrase that…I am tackling. I ask the girls to help me, let say, pick up the living room. They come in, pick one thing up and they go back to watching TV. AARRGGHH. I know this is typical teenage behavior but I thought that my beautiful and intelligent kids knew that when I ask them to “help me with the living room”, they know I mean the entire living room not just one tiny little item laying on the couch. HAHA
Barney is doing very well. There were absolutely no accidents in the house yesterday. WOOHOO. I praised him with lots of loud, squeally, high-pitched good boy’s and he sat there looking at me like I was crazy with his head cocked to one side. ![]()
I combed his ears today. They are the only things he has with any kind of hair on them and I don’t want them to get knotted and tangled. He still has one little knot behind his right ear that is really close. The groomers trimmed it down and said we would let it grow out some and then next time she could get it. I combed all around it so it wouldn’t get any bigger and in a couple of weeks I will call them and see if I can just drop by with him so they can snip it off. You can’t see it so that is good but I don’t want it to get tighter and cause him pain so I will keep a close eye on it.
The sinus cavity in my cheek, right under my right eye, is killing me today and I blame the pollen. I think it is allergies. I just can’t still be sick with remnants of the flu at this point. I mean, I guess it’s possible but I just don’t see how.
Now, as far as the outside of the ole homestead is concerned: We are redoing the porch in the next couple of weeks. The same neighbor that cool sealed the roof is going to replaced the roof of the porch. Right now it has nasty, holey, rusted tin…ICK. I have always hated it. We are going to put on a shingled roof. We priced all the stuff needed and it is not expensive at all for the size of roof we have. After the roof is done we are removing all of the slats from around the porch and replacing them with lattis. Wooden lattice for around the porch area and the green plastic lattis around the bottom (the under side of the porch that touches the ground…like under-pinning for the porch). Then we will paint the porch.
And then, over the summer, we are painting the trailer or rather, having it painted. After that, the only thing needed will be new under-pinning. It will look like a new place all together.
Once the porch is finished, I want to steal Kathie’s idea of planter boxes on the porch railings. I love the way it looks and our porch gets lots of sun. We probably won’t be able to do it this year but we can next year.
Well, I am off to mop. My least favorite thing to do around the house besides folding socks.
I leave you with a chuckle.
