I have wondered what it was about MySpace that I hated so much. I have figured it out…it is more than one reason.
1- It takes forever to log in. I click the little link in my favorites and the main MySpace page comes up. I click the link to log on and I wait and wait and wait and….you guessed it…I wait some more. Every single time I try to log on to Myspace it takes more than 5 minutes for the damn page to load. On Facebook, I am on my pages in 2 secs….on a slow day!
2- I HATE…I mean absolutely HATE most everyone’s profile pages on MySpace. They are usually some fucked up arrangement of wild colors and pictures, videos and graphics that 1) take for ever to load and 2) when it does eventually load its almost always impossible to read. On most profiles I have to highlight the page in order to read anything. If I have to highlight your profile when I visit, just to read it, your chances of me coming back are slim to none. And since 99.9% of everyone’s profiles are unreadable…I just don’t go to MySpace anymore and am contemplating deleting my account there.
3- The only thing I have found to do on Myspace is leave comments on those unreadable profiles or listen to music, maybe post a bulletin or two. Maybe send a private message. Oh and you can chat through the MySpace IM thing.
Now, on Facebook I have found lots of things…interactive things to do with the people on my friends list. We can play games together, chat (through the FB chat thingie), messages, status, feed updates which let you know what your friends are doing so that you can join in if you want to. Also, the profiles…you can actually read them. They are not all screwed up with weird colors and flashy graphics. I do wish that you could change the background to a different solid color, however. And here in the next little bit, they are going to a tabbed format which will make it even more streamlined and user friendly. There are lots more reasons I like FaceBook other than it’s user friendliness and activities but…I don’t feel like typing it all out. Sign up for a FaceBook account and see for yourself.
I know this sounds like an advertisement for FaceBook but it really isn’t. I just realized why it is I spend so much time at FaceBook and nearly 0 time at MySpace. I think it is maturity. All the kids like the MySpace. It’s flashy and “cool”. It’s like that to keep their attention I suppose. 
FaceBook is more for adults, I think. It looks more grown up, I guess. Just my opinion.
